I was very young when graced with the title, Mama. Your words reminded me of that sacred, fumbling time.
I’ve birthed three more & lost two since, spanning nearly 3 decades & now raise a bonus boy. Nothing has taught me more about Love’s capacities (& my own) than mothering.
I too tried on the conscious parenting, the scripts, the trying to be the perfect mother, but it all gets in the way from mothering from our heart and soul.
Love this! Especially the part about ditching those parenting scripts - if only there was a 'conscious' parenting technique for getting the toddler to eat something other than a banana for the third day in a row... 😂
I can resonate with this!! In fact you say everything much more poetically and concisely than I did in my own piece, newborns are ultimate bliss, how to not lose yourself in new motherhood! Bravo and beautiful!
I've written quite a bit about it in the past but have lost most of the blogs. I really should have saved them before I shut down my old site. I'll likely write more in future - and if there's anything in particular you'd like to know, feel free to ask. My children and the whole adoption journey are my favourite topics! :)
Very beautiful poem and sentiment! I loved every moment of it and the journey of self-discovery you share! I hope you will publish more poetry! ♥️👏🌈✍️
Oh thank you Rebecca, so grateful for your comment.
Beautiful timing as I’m working on a second publication dedicated to poetry and illustrations, so I welcome the encouragement 💜💜
Splendid expression of the most natural form of inhabiting our bodies and soul. Opening up to the power of birthing and nurturing a child
Thank you 💚💚
Wow; this is a gorgeous piece… 💕

Wow Colleen, you’ve held and are holding so much! Thank you for sharing, so much cracking open in all the ways 💚
This was stunning. And the photo at the end is absolutely precious 😭
Thank you Rachel 💜
Beautiful.

Thank you Kristen, appreciate your message x
This is exquisite. My journey to motherhood was unusual but every word of this spoke directly to my heart ❤️
Ahh 💜💜 I’m so intrigued about your motherhood journey with adoption, do you have something I can read about it?
